I spent some time a few years ago teaching myself how to do freemotion embroidery on my vintage Singer 15-88 sewing machine. It’s a straight stitch machine that is a workhorse. It also has a built in feature of dropping the feed dogs so you can specifically do this type of freemotion needle & thread painting on your fabrics. I decided to do the work in small pieces and then later decided to work matching back pieces so I could use these initial test pieces in some bag making.
